Castlevania: Belmont's Curse Hall of Mirrors Guide — Fog, Seals & Temptress

Hall of Mirrors in Castlevania: Belmont's Curse

Hall of Mirrors Guide: Fog, Seals and The Temptress

Quick answer: the Hall of Mirrors is an optional maze area whose map stays hidden under fog until you kill its boss, The Temptress — a Succubus who appears as Rose's mother. To get in, break four seals on marked Mirrors of Life (Paris Street, Main Hall, Clock Tower, Notre-Dame), then return to the Main Hall Mirror Rooms. Inside, a blue reflection shows the route, a red reflection starts a fight, and a plain one sends you back to the entrance. Beating her clears the fog. Eleanor then gives you the Mirror Walk Arcana at the Tomb of the Noble Queen.

Step 1 — Break the four seals

The seals are the Sage quest line. Each sits on a marked Mirror of Life in a different region (GameRant, level C):

RegionSeal location
Paris StreetPrison Tower — the middle Mirror of Life
Main HallArchive — from Ferryman's Wharf go northeast, climb to the upper floor, take the upper eastern route from the statue, pass through the dimensional door to Servant's Hall, then go northwest
Clock TowerMechanic's Ascent, left side
Notre-DameEast Gallery — labelled "Sage Eleanor Seal"

The Clock Tower seal needs traversal tools: Arcana Whip, Holy Light, Aerial Rush and Smash. Only the Arcana Whip is explicitly an Arcana; the guide just calls the others abilities.

At each seal:

  1. Bow at the engraved Mirror of Life. GameRant uses "bow" for the entrances and "kneel" for the mirror prompts inside — same interaction.
  2. Enter the Hall of Mirrors.
  3. Attack the dark diamond-shaped seal floating above the mirror.
  4. Clear the enemy waves that spawn.
  5. Leave and move on. GameRant lists the four seals without a required order.

Sealed mirrors are not fast-travel points — teleport to the nearest normal Mirror of Life and walk from there.

Step 2 — Unlock the area

With all four seals broken, go to the Main Hall Mirror Rooms. The Hall of Mirrors becomes a fast-travel destination. The map is still fogged when you arrive, and progress inside depends on which mirror you bow at, not on finding a hidden door.

Step 3 — Read the reflections

Bowing at a mirror inside the Hall does one of three things (GameRant free-the-Sage guide, level C):

ReflectionResult
BlueReveals the correct route from that point
RedSummons an aggressive copy of Rose — a fight, not a hint
Plain / normalTeleports you back to the start if you are lost

Step 4 — Route to the boss (fog-clearing line)

This is the shortest reported line to The Temptress, not a full clear. One Chinese guide counts 114 exploration rooms in the Hall and notes the boss route skips many of them (360game, level D, single source).

First section

  1. Reach the bottom floor and free-fall between the mirror floors.
  2. Use the platforms to descend twice, ignoring enemies.
  3. Take the left door.
  4. In the room with one large central mirror and two small mirrors, bow at the left small mirror.

Second section (an alternate Belmont Manor)

  1. Activate the nearby mirror and go up.
  2. Head right through the doors, drop down and air-dash left.
  3. Descend and take the right door, then immediately enter the right portal.
  4. Use the anchors to reach the upper-left portal, slide through the gap, pull the lever, smash the obstacle below, then take the right portal again.
  5. Climb with anchors, go left, and in the trap room jump to the upper platform, break the fake wall, cross on temporary platforms and air-dash left past the wheels.
  6. Swing up with anchors, take the left door, clear the enemies, swing to the upper platform and bow at the central mirror.

Third section

  1. Take the platform down and go through the right door.
  2. Use a temporary platform to climb and smash the blocking obstacle.
  3. Go left, descend, enter the right portal, cross and use the next portal.
  4. Bow at the first mirror you meet, then keep descending past the floors to the boss arena.

Source note: 360game says the boss route uses four mirror teleports; GameRant's step-by-step lists three mirror bow spots. Same route, different counting — treat the count as approximate.

Step 5 — Beat The Temptress

Where: GameRant places her southeast of the Hall's Ferryman's Wharf — drop in from the right side. The Chinese guide describes the route as teleports through the Hall into a Belmont Manor area where the fight begins. Same boss, different landmark names.

What she does (360game, level D single source unless noted):

AttackHow to counter
HP drain — she drains Rose to heal herself (GameRant, level C)Keep your distance and only commit during openings
Claws and kicks up closeSwitch to her other side after each string
Hops, jumps and mid-air repositioningRe-close the distance instead of chasing a dash
Dash in any direction, including diagonalsThe wind-up is clear — move on the tell
Clones that fire projectiles, with the real Temptress hidden among themAttack any of them; finding the real one is guesswork
Shield phase at low health — she blocks all direct damage and floods the arena with projectilesBreaking the clones forces her to the ground, which opens the damage window

Stats: one Chinese guide lists 8,000 HP, 50 attack, 1,200 EXP, immunity to freeze, petrify, launch, stun, slow and several Arcana effects, with bleed and burn still working. Konami publishes no boss stats and no other guide we cross-check gives numbers — treat these as unconfirmed (level D, single source). Do not plan a run around them.

Rewards: killing her permanently clears the fog and unlocks the Hall of Mirrors map (GameRant, level C), and the first Mirror of Life you use afterwards gives Eleanor's final clue. The Chinese guide adds the Life Drain spell, The Temptress Arcana and 1,200 EXP — unconfirmed (level D).

Step 6 — Collect Mirror Walk

  1. Fast-travel to Holy Innocents' Cemetery.
  2. Go to the Mausoleum of the Queens in the western part of the area.
  3. Continue to the Tomb of the Noble Queen and speak to Eleanor.
  4. She grants the Mirror Walk Arcana (GameRant, level C).

Mirror Walk is the Sage's Arcana. Equip it at the Prudence window in Notre-Dame's Gallery of the Four Virtues to ring that bell — one of the four the True ending requires (Endings).

Prerequisites

  • Access to four regions — Paris Street, Main Hall, Clock Tower, Notre-Dame.
  • Clock Tower traversal — Arcana Whip, Holy Light, Aerial Rush and Smash for the Mechanic's Ascent seal.
  • The Sage chain is optional for a Normal-ending run but required for the True ending's Prudence bell. If you are only finishing the Normal ending, you can skip the whole area.
  • "A Sketch From Talos" is a clue that points at the seals, not a confirmed mandatory key item (GameRant, level C).

Problems players hit

Why is the map blank or covered in fog? The Hall of Mirrors map only unlocks after The Temptress dies. Until then you are navigating blind with the mirror hints.

A sealed Mirror of Life won't let me fast-travel. By design — sealed mirrors are not warp points. Walk from the nearest normal one.

A reflection attacked me / sent me back to the start. Red reflection means a fight with a copy of Rose; plain reflection is the "return to entrance" reset.

Where exactly is The Temptress? The guides disagree on landmarks. GameRant says southeast of Ferryman's Wharf, dropping from the right; 360game describes reaching her through four mirror teleports and a Belmont Manor area. Both describe the bottom of the maze.

Black screen when entering the Hall. Steam players reported black-screen crashes in the Hall of Mirrors (Hall of Mirrors glitch). Konami's Ver. 1.1.3 update (October 16, 2026) targets launch black screens on high-refresh-rate monitors and admits it "may still occur in certain environments" — there is no Hall-of-Mirrors-specific fix announced (Steam announcement, level B).

The lever is missing and I'm stuck. A reported bug: Bug — Hall of Mirrors lever is missing (October 21). Reload your save or restart the game; treat lever state as fragile.

The Clock Tower Sage mirror broke my game. Also reported: ClockWork Sage Mirror broke the game (October 22). Save before you break the Clock Tower seal.

How many secrets are in the Hall? A fan breakdown lists 37 secret areas, but that single source is unverified and the Hall is also hard to traverse, which is why players complain about it (Steam). The 114-room figure above is a different metric from a different source — do not add the two together.

What is The Temptress's real HP? Unconfirmed. One guide gives 8,000; Konami gives nothing and no other guide we cross-check publishes a number. See the "Boss HP: what's confirmed and what isn't" section on Bosses for the site-wide HP policy.

How do I even get into this area? That was the most common community question before guides caught up (Reddit — how to get in this area, Reddit — am I missing something about the mirrors?). The answer is the four seals above — the door is not inside the Hall itself.

Next step after the Hall of Mirrors

  1. Ring the Prudence bell with the Sage at Notre-Dame's Gallery of the Four Virtues (Endings).
  2. Check your Arcana lineup — Mirror Walk is one of the cards the True-ending route expects; the rest are listed in the Arcana system.
  3. Sweep the area for secrets now that the fog is gone; the district breakdown is on Hidden Walls & Secrets.
  4. Track what you skipped — the boss route deliberately skips rooms, so a 100% run needs a second pass (Map).
